The Pine Bluff-John McAlmont Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution met March 17 at Lakeside United Methodist Church.
Regent Susan Over led the group in the DAR ritual, with Chaplain Jerrie Townsend assisting. The minutes of the Feb. 17 meeting were approved by committee. DeeLois Lawrence gave the treasurer’s report, according to a news release.
Sharon Wyatt reported that she had applications for the Bob and Tess Hill Scholarship. Female high school seniors who will be attending an Arkansas college or university may apply for the $500 scholarship. The deadline for submission is April 15.
Wyatt, chairman of the Spring Luncheon committee, reminded members that the luncheon honoring state Regent Charline Manning is April 21 at Pine Bluff Country Club. Reservations may be made to Wyatt or Lawrence.

Townsend, Insignia chairman, displayed a “First Generation” pin available to members who are the first DAR member from her family. She explained that members may apply for the pin on the DAR website.
Over announced that the 118th State Conference of the DAR is Thursday through Saturday. Those who plan to attend, and serve as delegates, are Over, Townsend, Wyatt, Sabrina Theriac and Melissa Scott.
The White Hall Grade School Art Department is sponsoring a contest to feature art depicting the 250th Anniversary of the nation. The department has invited the DAR members to judge the contest. Townsend made a motion to accept the invitation, and it was carried.
Over reported on the Liberty Tree project, which is in conjunction with the Bayou Bartholomew Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution. Over, Wyatt and Lawrence attended a Liberty Tree planting in Star City on March 11. There are 20 ceremonies planned for counties in Arkansas.
