Neighborhood watch groups will be the primary focus of Pine Bluff’s monthly town hall meeting on Monday at the convention center. The event will begin at 5:30 p.m.
Mayor Debe Hollingsworth said Friday that the organizations are a primary tool in the city’s effort to reduce its crime rate.
“I want to highlight the West Side Loop Neighborhood Watch and several others that are good examples of what these groups can accomplish,” she said. “The West Side Loop group is a great model for others. It’s a tremendous help to the police department and neighborhood residents.”
Hollingsworth said Regina Von Tungeln, who oversees the watch groups for the police department, will discuss what the organizations “are doing” and how they “network to strengthen one another.”
“Regina will also be discussing procedures on organizing a neighborhood watch group,” the mayor said, “and we’ll have representatives of currently active groups sharing their experiences.”

Additionally, a slide presentation on “before and after” developments on voter-approved, bond-funded projects is planned.
Topics to be included in the briefing include Saracen Landing, a splash pad, drainage improvements and police and fire department enhancements as well as proposed modifications to the animal shelter.
City department heads also will be on hand to answer questions.
