Cowboys now 22-0 all-time vs. Lions

STILLWATER, Okla. — Oklahoma State has now beaten Arkansas-Pine Bluff in baseball 22 times. UAPB has yet to notch a victory against the traditional Big 12 power.

The Cowboys started with a 5-0 lead and won 6-2 on Tuesday in the first of two games against the Golden Lions at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium. UAPB (1-15-1) will try to break its 0-22 record against Oklahoma State at 4 p.m. today.

Soloman Williams ended the shutout in the fourth inning with a two-out RBI double. In the seventh, a throwing error from second base after a single by Sean Samsa allowed Williams to score from third.

Oklahoma State’s Chase Stevens struck out seven batters and gave up two hits to improve his pitching record to 3-0. Jake Abbott worked the final three innings and earned his first career save, striking out five and allowing one hit.

Jared Womack hit a two-out, two-run single in the second to put the Cowboys on the board. Wes Jones smacked a three-run double to make it 5-0, missing a grand slam by inches.

The Cowboys (10-7) have won nine of 10 games at home.
