A detainee at the W.C. “Dub” Brassell Detention Center was pronounced dead Friday morning after he was found unconscious.
The Jefferson County sheriff’s office did not name the inmate pending notification of immediate family, but it reported deputies learned that the person was unconscious at about 8 a.m. Deputies, along with a jail nurse, attempted to revive the detainee through CPR and use of an automated external defibrillator, but were unsuccessful, according to a news release.
The investigation is ongoing and any further information will be released when possible, the sheriff’s office said.
