County 4-H offers summer learning opportunities

The Jefferson County 4-H program will conduct a variety of educational activities that will offer county youths ages 5 to 19 an opportunity for summer learning in a safe, fun and informal environment.

The Teen Leader Conference is open to Jefferson County youth ages 14 to 19. It will be June 10-12 at the C.A. Vines Arkansas 4-H Center in Ferndale. Registration deadline is May 8.

Make It! Mondays is open to 4-H members ages 10 to 15 and feature day-long workshops focused on expressive arts and entrepreneurship. They will happen from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. each Monday in June at the Jefferson County Extension Office. Cost is $5 per workshop or $15 for all. Must be pre-registered and paid in advance. Classes limited to 15. Registration deadline is May 22.

A fishing derby will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday, June 13 at McCoy Park on U. S. Highway 270. It is open to all Jefferson County youths and senior citizens. Registration deadline is June 5.
