County 4-H Club offering summer children’s learning opportunities

The Jefferson County 4-H program will conduct a variety of educational activities that will offer county youths ages 5 to 19 an opportunity for summer learning in a safe, fun and informal environment.

This is the second of two articles. The first article ran in the Friday Accent section of The Commercial.

Arkansas 4-H State Camps: Open to 4-H members ages 9-12 and 13-15. This will be a three-day, two-night camp Monday, July 6, through Wednesday, July 8, at the Arkansas 4-H Center in Ferndale. The cost is $75 and registration is through 4Honline. Payment must be received prior to registration approval. The registration deadline is Tuesday, June 9.

4-H Kids Cooking Camp: Open to Jefferson County youth ages 10-13. This is a two-day camp with a focus on Arkansas agriculture and cooking. The class will be Monday, July 13, and Tuesday, July 14, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. The registration deadline is Friday, June 19.

Camp Cloverbud: Open to 4-H members ages 5-8. This one-day camp for Cloverbuds will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, July 23, at the Jefferson County Extension Office. The registration deadline is Thursday, July 9.

Kids in the Kitchen Cooking School: Open to county youth ages 12-15 who are or will be attending the Dollarway, Pine Bluff or Watson Chapel school districts, Lighthouse Charter School or Quest Middle School this fall. This two-day cooking school will cover cooking basics and teach the skills needed to prepare a complete and healthy meal. The school will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, and Thursday, July 30. The registration deadline is Thursday, July 9.
