Corps issues warning for sailing near Locks 3, 4

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers urges caution for boaters using two locks and dams in the Jefferson County area, according to a news release.

Due to shoaling and until further notice, mariners are advised to use caution through the following areas:

Joe Hardin Lock (No. 3) NM 50.2: When the tail-water falls below elevation 163.0, upbound and downbound tows will need to favor the short wall in the downstream approach.

Emmett Sanders Lock (No. 4) NM 66.0: Upbound and downbound tows need to favor the long wall in the downstream approach.
