Corps extends advisory from Morrilton down river

The Army Corps of Engineers extended the small craft advisory for the Arkansas River from Morrilton downstream.

Recent heavy rains caused flows to rise. During high flows, strong currents and large debris can threaten the safety of pleasure craft. Small craft advisories are issued when flows exceed 70,000 cubic feet per second.

Flows at Ormond Lock and Dam at Morrilton were about 110,000 c.f.s. Monday, March 16. Flows at Murray Lock and Dam at Little Rock were about 150,000 c.f.s. Flows at Sanders Lock and Dam near Pine Bluff were about 155,000 c.f.s. Flows at Mills Dam at Arkansas Post were about 160,000 c.f.s.

More rain could push flows higher or cause the advisory to remain in effect longer. Details: www.swl-wc.usace.army.mil or www.about.me/usacelittlerock
