Compassionate Friends to host annual Walk to Remember

Desha County Compassionate Friends will host its 13th annual Two-Mile Walk to Remember at 7 a.m. Saturday at the Dumas Community Center indoor track.

Desha County Compassionate Friends is a national non-profit self-help support organization whose mission is to assist families toward the positive resolution of grief following the death of a child of any age and to provide information to help others be supportive.

All parents, grandparents and siblings, supportive friends, family members, churches and organizations are invited to join and walk to remember all children who have left us too soon.

National C.F. director Pat Loder says, “Whether you walk the two miles or a couple of hundred feet is not important, what matters is that you have taken this time to join with the friends — new and old — and a family who are walking the same journey with you as in the past years.”

If unable to walk, participants are invited to come, sit and watch the walkers.

Compassionate Friends are encouraged to wear the Compassionate Friends T-shirt. Supportive friends may wear a T-shirt of their choice.

There is no admission for the walk. However, those who would like to give a donation in memory of a child may do so. Donations may be mailed to Desha County Compassionate Friends, P.O. Box 482, Dumas, Ark., 71639; or deposited in the Compassionate Friends’ account at Merchants and Farmers Bank.

Following the walk at 8 a.m., Compassionate Friends will have a breakfast meeting at the Community Center.
