Abron leaves Hogs; Harris officially joins
FAYETTEVILLE — The Arkansas basketball program’s roster shuffle hasn’t ended.
Forward Devonta Abron is leaving the Razorbacks after one season in Fayetteville.
Abron, a Texas native, has been granted a scholarship release by Arkansas coach Mike Anderson and intends to transfer closer to home. Abron’s departure was first reported by CBSSports.com on Tuesday night.
The 6-foot-8 Abron played in 32 games with 22 starts as a freshman. He averaged 5.7 points and 4.2 rebounds, logging plenty of time in the post with forward Marshawn Powell out most of the season with a knee injury.
The Razorbacks added Houston transfer Alandise Harris, too. But it’s not yet known if the 6-6 Harris, who averaged 13.3 points and 6.4 rebounds as a sophomore, will be eligible to play next season or must sit out due to NCAA transfer rules.
