UAPB center uses food program

The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Child Development Center, 1200 N. University Drive, Monday announced its sponsorship of the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Program. Meals will be available free or at a reduced charge to enrolled participants at the center, according to a news release.

In accordance with federal law and the USDA policy, this institution is prohibited from discriminating.

Sheraton Park residents to meet

The Sheraton Park Neighborhood Watch/Taylor Association Watch will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday in Brown Hall of Grace Episcopal Church, 4101 S. Hazel St., at the back of the church.

A guest speaker will discuss recycling. At the Neighborhood Watch meeting, participants receive information concerning different areas of the city. Residents from Ward 2 and elsewhere are encouraged to attend, according to a news release.

House of Bread to give away food

House of Bread Deliverance Church, 1501 W. Second Ave., will hold its monthly food giveaway Saturday from 11 a.m. until all food is gone. Proof of address must be at least one of the following: A driver’s license, identification, or utility bills. Prostate cancer awareness set

Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 1801 Indiana St., will observe Prostate Cancer Awareness by encouraging all members and visitors to wear blue on Sept. 21.

“This is your invitation to join in this special Sunday observance, which will begin at 10:45 a.m.,” according to StuffinTheBluff.com. “We look forward to seeing you there wearing blue.”

Ag Outlook Forum set

Harrison Pittman, director of the National Agricultural Law Center will join Deputy Secretary of Agriculture Stephen Vaden and others at the 11th Ag Outlook Forum Sept. 24-25.

The Agricultural Business Council of Kansas City and Agri-Pulse Communications will host the Forum at the Marriott Downtown Kansas City in Kansas City, Mo.

Organizers have also invited Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Sen. Roger Marshall, R-Kan., to discuss the Make America Healthy Again movement, according to a news release from the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture.

“I’m honored to join such a talented panel and lineup of speakers at the Ag Outlook Forum to help break down what the latest tax changes mean for the ag industry,” Pittman said. “This is an excellent conference and I’m really looking forward to being a part of it.”

The forum lineup of speakers will focus on ag innovation, top tax changes, the farm economy and animal health challenges.

“This is a great opportunity to learn about some of the most important topics in American agriculture,” said Agri-Pulse Founder and Publisher Sara Wyant. “You won’t want to miss it!”

UCA names local August grads

The University of Central Arkansas held commencement Aug. 9 in the Reynolds Performance Hall on campus.

The university conferred approximately 460 undergraduate and graduate degrees and certificates from the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences; College of Business; College of Education; College of Health and Behavioral Sciences; College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics; and the Graduate School, according to a news release.

Honorees included several local residents:
