PBICVR conducts bullying survey
A coalition of organizations will conduct the “Not in This School…” bullying survey in Pine Bluff schools. The activity serves as a supportive element of one of the state’s initiatives, according to a news release.
The Southeast Panthers Historical Society LLC (SEPHS), an Arkansas-based 501(c)3 primarily focused as an education entity on support and leadership for both K-12 and adults, provides services in health and wellness, tutoring, literacy coaching, adult literacy, wealth creation and financial education.
Working with the United Way of Southeast Arkansas, SEPHS is collaborating with the Pine Bluff, Watson Chapel and Friendship Aspire Academy Public Charter schools, to facilitate the bullying survey.
The results will inform a data-driven approach for the FY 2024-2025 district strategic planning, focusing on improving student welfare. The PBICVR PEN OR PENCIL mentoring movement acknowledges the importance of data collection in developing impactful anti-bullying strategies.
The coalition aims to lay the groundwork for bullying prevention and more efficiently address bullying patterns in schools.
“In our mission to preserve the history and legacy of Southeast Jr./Sr. High School, its Principal W. T. Cheney, and leaders among staff and graduates, we aim to contribute to the community and bolster mentoring programs to address one of the widespread issues of bullying in schools,” a spokesperson said.
Alumni and interested supporters are encouraged to assist in reviewing and processing the survey results, commit to at least one hour per week on a school campus, mentor with Pastors on Patrol (POP) or volunteer with the PEN OR PENCIL Nonviolence to No Violence mentoring movement, which follows Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s six principles.
Additionally, participants may volunteer with PBICVR’s implementation of the Woodson Center K-12 Lessons Curriculum, highlighting lesser-known African American figures. Interested individuals can learn more about becoming mentors, tutors or approved volunteers by calling (870) 730-1131 or emailing pbicvr@aol.com or southeasthistoricalsociety1@gmail.com for further details.
