Simmons opens Texas branch
Simmons Bank marked the grand opening of a new branch in Texarkana, Texas, Thursday. The bank operates approximately 120 full-service branches throughout Texas and Arkansas, according to a news release.
“Our branch network plays a vital role in connecting our neighbors and local businesses to critical resources that meet their financial needs and help them build a stronger financial future,” said Jason Ross, community president for Simmons Bank. “We are proud to bring the power of our extensive branch network to more households and businesses in Texarkana.”
REC-TXK LLC (Rogers Construction Co.) was the contractor and Entos Design was the architectural firm of record.
Fire chief announces promotions

Pine Bluff Fire Chief Shauwn Howell announced the promotions of several members of the Pine Bluff Fire and Emergency Services Department. A ceremony celebrating the promotions will be held at 11 a.m. Sept. 4 at the Pine Bluff Convention Center. The public is welcome to attend, according to a news release.
The following were promoted to these ranks:
CAPTAINS
Capt. Richard Kress is a 12-year veteran with the department and currently is the captain of Station #6 at 1805 N. Moreland St.
Capt. Fredrick Batemon is a 15-year veteran with the department and currently is the captain of Station #2 at 2120 W. Pullen Ave.
Capt. Antonio Scott is a 19-year veteran with the department and currently is the captain of Station #7 at 2208 Ridgway Road.
LIEUTENANTS
Lt. Derrick Jacobs is an 8-year veteran with the department and currently is the lieutenant at Station #2.
Lt. Eldon Still is a 13-year veteran with the department and currently is the lieutenant at Station #7.
ENGINEERS
Engineer Thomas Russell is a 7-year veteran with the department and currently is an engineer at Station #7.
Engineer LaRaven Canada is a 4-year veteran with the department and currently is an Engineer at Station #1 at 200 E. Eighth Ave.
Engineer Caleb Buckmaster is a 4-year veteran with the department and currently is an engineer at Station #6.
Engineer Justin Rudder is a 3-year veteran with the department and currently is an engineer at Station #1.
Engineer Isiah Mays is a 4-year veteran with the department and currently is a engineer at Station #7.
Engineer Micheal Willingham is a 4-year veteran with the department and currently is an engineer at Station #4 at 3609 Market St.
