UA graduate earns citation
The Arkansas Alumni Association recognized Sydney Roulhac of Pine Bluff with the 2025 Senior Honor Citation.
Chancellor Charles Robinson of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville announced the awards during the Cardinal & White Celebration on May 8.
Roulhac graduated from the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at UA with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication and a minor in marketing May 9. Her campus involvement included being secretary for the Associated Student Government and being selected as the 2024 homecoming queen, according to a news release.
As the winner of the Senior Honor Citation, Roulhac received life membership in the Arkansas Alumni Association, permanent recognition on a plaque at the Janelle Y. Hembree Alumni House, and will be invited back to campus to represent the Class of 2025 at events, including speaking at the Senior Walk dedication.

The citation recognizes the top two seniors who exhibit outstanding academic achievement, leadership skills, and co-curricular engagement. The association has conferred the citations to each graduating class since the award’s establishment in 1965.
UAPB names Hall of Fame alumni
The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff/AM&N National Alumni Association announced the Hall of Fame Class of 2025.
The induction ceremony will be held Oct. 10 at 12:30 p.m. at the Pine Bluff Convention Center. This year’s event is being held in conjunction with the Alumni Luncheon and General Membership Meeting and Alumni King and Queen Presentation, according to a news release.

UAPB students earn opportunities
Four current and one former student in the Department of Biology at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff earned competitive internship opportunities and admission into a graduate program.
Tyrese Singleton, Alayasia Stewart, Kohl Thomas and Mya Tolbert will participate in research-oriented internships this summer in Missouri, Louisiana, Arkansas and Tennessee, according to Sederick Charles Rice, associate professor of biology at UAPB.
Rice also announced that Henessae Shavers, a December 2023 UAPB graduate, was accepted into the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine’s Pathobiology & Molecular Medicine Graduate Program.
Singleton will conduct primate research during a Jungle of the Apes Summer Internship Program at the St. Louis Zoo in St. Louis.
Stewart will participate in a FUTURE Sensors REU (Research Experiences for Undergraduates) project entitled “Literature Review: Social Impacts of Environmental Pollution” at Louisiana Tech University from June 3-July 31, Rice said.
Thomas will study the effect of incubators on chicken eggs at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville from May 17-July 26.
Tolbert will study climate change at Fisk University in collaboration with Meharry Medical College.
Art League opens exhibit
The Pine Bluff Art League is hosting its exhibition “Window Into Summer” featuring summertime themes at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Services Center, 211 W. Third Ave. Work on display is created by Southeast Arkansas community artists who are members of the league. The public is invited to enjoy the new exhibition which opened June 1, according to a news release.
Pine Bluff Art League yearly membership dues are $45. Artists can make a check out to the Pine Bluff Art League and mail it to Pine Bluff Art League, Donald W. ACO to hold fundraising dinner
Arkansas Community Organizations will have a rib tip fundraiser dinner from 11 a.m. until 2 pm. Saturday at 3712 W. 34th Ave. The menu is rib tips, potato salad, slice of bread, baked beans and a bottle of water for $15.
