AgHeritage names Rison man director

Harrell Wilson (Southern Region) of Rison was elected to his first 4-year term during the 2024 Board of Director election of AgHeritage Farm Credit Services.

AgHeritage recently announced the results of its 2024 Board of Director election.

Dow Brantley (Central Region) of Little Rock was reelected to a four-year term. Brantley farms cotton, corn, rice and soybeans on 1,560 acres owned and 12,000 acres rented.

Mark Isbell (Central Region) of North Little Rock was reelected to a four-year term. With his family, Isbell farms rice on 2,500 acres owned and 1,000 acres rented.

Wilson, a hardwood sawmill owner, farms pine and hardwood timber on 17,500 acres owned, according to the news release.

Wilson holds a Bachelor of Science in Forestry from the University of Arkansas at Monticello. He serves on the Camp Wyldewood Board, Cleveland County School Board, Arkansas Forestry Association Board, AFA Education Foundation Board and UAM Foundation Board. Wilson is a former member of the AgHeritage Nominating Committee. Details: agheritagefcs.com.

PB to host cereal drive

The community is invited to join the THV11 which will be collecting cereal and other breakfast items from 6:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. today at the Walmart Supercenter. The Redcoats of the Pine Bluff Regional Chamber of Commerce will be on hand to help collect donations.

THV11 and Arkansas Food Bank teamed up once again for the Summer Cereal Drive taking place across the state and right here in Pine Bluff, according to the Chamber newsletter.

All donations will be kept local and go to pantries in the area to help kids and families who face food insecurity during the summer months.

Workers Safety Conference set

The Southeast Arkansas Human Resources and Safety Committee invites people to its annual Workers Safety Conference on Educating Hourly Employees in Safety beginning at 7:30 a.m. June 27 at Southeast Arkansas College in McGeorge Hall, 1900 Hazel St.

Registration fee is $25 for attendees and $30 for exhibitors and lunch is included,, according to a news release.

The topics for the safety seminar include: Safety Awareness, Mental Health and Violence in the Workplace, OSHA Updates, Slips-Trips-and Falls, and Situational Awareness.

Zebras golf tournament set

Pine Bluff Zebras Golf Tournament will be held June 28 at the Pine Bluff Country Club.

Lunch is at 11 a.m.,check in and range opens at noon and at 1 p.m. the tournament begins with a shotgun start, according to a flyer.

Mental health first aid classes available

Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield opened registration for its 2024 mental health first aid certification courses, offered free to participants.

Classes will be held from 10 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. at the ArkansasBlue Welcome Centers in the following locations on the following dates:

Aug. 9 ­– Pine Bluff, 509 Mallard Loop.

July 13 — Little Rock, 416 S. University Ave., Ste. 110.

July 27 — Fayetteville, 3013 N. College Ave.

Aug. 24 — Rogers, 4602 W. Walnut St.

In the MHFA certification program, participants learn how to recognize someone in their workplace, family or community who might be experiencing anxiety, depression, addiction or other behavioral health challenge. DAV plans Virtual Career Fair

Disabled American Veterans and RecruitMilitary® will co-host the National Government Agency Virtual Career Fair from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. today. The event is free to veterans, their spouses, active-duty military personnel and members of the National Guard and Reserve.

In addition to employment assistance, the veterans can use free career counseling and resume assistance, network with fellow veterans and military personnel, and get support with their Department of Veterans Affairs benefits and claims assistance, according to a news release.
