UAPB event closed to public
The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff’s farewell to Chancellor Laurence B. Alexander on June 26 is by “invite only” and is not open to the public, according to a UAPB spokesman. Also, while the UAPB/AM&N National Alumni Association emailed the notice that appeared in Tuesday’s edition of The Commercial, the event is not sponsored by the association, but by the university.
Civic auditorium meeting set

VFW sets hot dog giveaway
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4455 at 1518 E. Harding Ave., will host its annual Independence Day Hot Dog Giveaway from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 4.
VFW is accepting donations from individuals, businesses, and other non-profit agencies that would like to contribute this and future programs. Donations can be dropped off at the post or by contacting Matthew Yarnell, Toys for Tots coordinator, at (509) 675-3420 or pine.bluff.ar@toysfortots.org.
