United Way sets fundraiser

United Way of Southeast Arkansas will host a Duck Race fundraiser Aug. 12 from 9-11 a.m. at Crenshaw Springs Water Park in White Hall or by virtual stream. Participants will receive the URL after registering.

Quack packs are $25 for six and $5 for single ducks. All proceeds will go toward a special fund managed by United Way to help cover medication co-pays for the elderly and underinsured, according to a news release.

“Together, we are addressing a real and urgent need for those who are often overlooked — our seniors and those struggling to afford their medications. This event is a testament to the power of local action and caring hearts,” according to the release.

Participants are urged to come out, cheer on their ducks, and help make a difference in the lives of those who need it most.

“Your support at the United Way Inaugural Duck Races will help build a healthier, more caring community for all,” according to the release. “With federal and state funding and grants being reduced or sometimes unavailable, having this local safety net is more important than ever. It ensures that our most vulnerable neighbors don’t have to choose between their health and other basic needs.”

Lelan Stice, proprietor of Doctor’s Orders Pharmacy, is sponsoring the Duck Race fundraiser in partnership with United Way. The Delta Plex Radio Station will be on-site. Details: United Way Southeast Arkansas, info@pbreynoldscenter.org or (870) 534-2153.
