Forestry, land retention event set
The Sustainable Forestry and Land Retention Joint Regional Conference will be held Aug. 29-30 at Prairie View A&M University.
The event is co-sponsored by Prairie View’s Cooperative Extension Program and the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Small Farm Program.

Resident makes Tufts’ Dean’s List

Aidan Jackson of Star City was named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2024 semester at Tufts University in Medford, Mass.
Dean’s list honors at Tufts University require a semester grade point average of 3.4 or greater. Jackson is expected to be a graduate in the class of 2026, according to a news release.
DRA announces maternal care grants
Applications are available for the Delta Region Maternal Care Coordination Program, according to a Delta Regional Authority news release.
The maternal care coordination program will work to address unacceptable rates of maternal morbidity and mortality in the region. Up to four cooperative agreements will be awarded to recipients in the Delta region, totaling approximately $7 million over four years (Sept. 30, 2024 – Sept. 29, 2028), according to the release.
The Health Resources and Services Administration’s Federal Office of Rural Health Policy has announced a funding opportunity focused on strengthening maternal care and reducing disparities in the Delta Region by expanding access and coordination of health care services before, during and after pregnancy.
