PB Chamber director finishes CDI

Jennifer Kline, the Pine Bluff Regional Chamber of Commerce director, has successfully completed the three-year Community Development Institute program at the University of Central Arkansas.

“CDI is a renowned community of leaders from across the state and country who come together to enhance their leadership skills, delve into all aspects of community development, and network with fellow community builders,” according to the Chamber newsletter.

Kline has been the Chamber director for three years. Previously, she was the agency’s events and marketing manager and director of Business Retention and Expansion/Communications for the Economic Development Alliance for Jefferson County, according to LinkedIn.

“Congratulations to Jennifer Kline,” the Chamber staff said in the newsletter.

Residents who are passionate about making a difference in the Pine Bluff area should consider enrolling in CDI, according to the newsletter.

Third Ward neighbors to meet

The Third Ward Community Watch Group will meet at 6 p.m. Aug. 20 at Destiny Worship Center, 4700 W. 28th Ave. Topics will include crime, park renovation, upcoming community events and new housing. The residents of the Third Ward are invited to attend. Kenneth Gray is the president, according to a news release.

VA sets virtual claims clinic

The Little Rock VA Regional Office will hold a virtual claims clinic for Arkansas veterans from 4-6 p.m. Aug. 22. To reserve a timeslot, veterans should call (501) 370-3829 before 4 p.m. Aug. 21, according to a news release.

Veterans may speak one-on-one to staff of the Little Rock VA Regional Office regarding their claims for VA benefits. Staff will also answer questions about PACT Act benefits, existing VA benefits claims, and assist with filing new claims.

The main office of the Little Rock VA Regional Office is located at 2200 Fort Roots Drive in North Little Rock and open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Veteran Assist Phone Line, (501) 370-3829, is staffed Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

SBA disaster loans available in area

Small nonfarm businesses in the several counties are now eligible to apply for low interest federal disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration, according to a news release.

These loans offset economic losses because of reduced revenues caused by adverse weather conditions that occurred in the certain primary counties in Arkansas, announced Francisco Sánchez Jr., associate administrator for the Office of Disaster Recovery and Resilience at the SBA.
