State Chamber names leaders

The Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce/Associated Industries of Arkansas named 53 members of Leadership Arkansas Class XIX, including several from southeast Arkansas.

Leadership Arkansas is a state Chamber/AIA program designed to develop emerging and established business, civic, and community leaders who have the desire and potential to create a better Arkansas, according to a news release.

Area class members include:

Travis Mosler — He is the marketing director at Central Moloney Inc. He’s on the board of the Generator Innovation Hub in Pine Bluff and the Pine Bluff Community Foundation, contributing to local economic and community development. He also serves in worship and production at New Life Church Pine Bluff.

Hana Settles — She is the digital marketing manager at Saracen Casino Resort. Formerly of THV11, Settles has worked at Saracen for two years, where she began as the social media specialist. She has since been promoted to her current position with hopes of becoming a director. She is also the host of Saracen Casino’s monthly giveaways, which air live on the last Saturday of every month on KARK.

Nicholas Colclough — He serves as the director of Milling Operations at Riceland Foods at Stuttgart. “With over two decades of experience spanning General Electric, Tyson, and Dewafelbakkers, Nicholas has consistently delivered transformative organizational change and driven sustainable business growth,” according to the release.

Chris Cook — A U.S. Air Force veteran, he began his career with Entergy Arkansas in 2005 as a helper on the Warren Network Line Crew. He is in his 20th year of service to the company and was promoted to region manager in 2022. He and his wife have three children together and reside in Drew County.

The underwriting sponsor for the 2024-2025 Leadership Arkansas program is Central Moloney. The presenting sponsors are ARcare, Nucor, Southwest Power Pool and Walmart. Statewide program sponsors are Arkansas Electric Cooperative Corp., Entergy Arkansas, Farm Credit Services of Arkansas and Summit Utilities.

Soul Food fundraiser set

Arkansas Community Organizations will have its annual Soul Food fundraiser dinner from 4-6 p.m. Saturday at the National Trust Partners Church, 2101 E. Sixth Ave.

Dinners are $15 each and the menu includes baked chicken, fried chicken, candied yams, cabbage, pinto beans and neck bones.

“Please come out and break bread with us, public,” a spokesman said in a news release.

Speakers will include Neil Sealy discussing the history of ACORN and Arkansas Community Organizations statewide, Demetrius Melvin speaking about Arkansas Community Organizations in Pine Bluff and surrounding areas, and Ivan Whitfield, president of the Pine Bluff Branch of NAACP, speaking on NAACP.
