Commercial endorses wrong candidate for Ward 4

Editor, The Commercial:

It is very sad that the Pine Bluff Commercial endorsed George Stepps for City Council Ward 4. Stepps has been feeding at the public trough for 12 years.

Recently defeated by Vonysha Goodwin for (the Democratic nomination for) county treasurer, he decided to run again for his council seat. He must have been bored with the city council if he was out looking for another job.

The Commercial touts Stepps’ experience and the fact that he holds a master’s degree. Anyone can get a master’s degree these days. What has Stepps done for Ward 4?

His major job on the City Council these last four years has been to “try” to make our mayor’s political life miserable. However, Debe Hollingsworth is tough and she hasn’t let the City Council get the best of her. It is Pine Bluff’s loss that she was not reelected.

I don’t know Bruce Lockett personally. However, what has Ward 4 got to lose? The City Council needs some new blood badly.
