COGIC churches plan AIM convention at Pine Bluff

The Arkansas First Jurisdiction Churches of God in Christ will host the sixth annual Auxiliaries in Ministry convention Monday through Friday, June 13-17, at the Pine Bluff Convention Center.

At 9 a.m. Friday, June 17, AIM will present donations to three service organizations at the convention center lobby.

The summer convention of the Church of God in Christ Inc. is geared toward spiritual enrichment, training, education and fellowship. The goal of AIM is to achieve effectiveness in ministry which also includes responding to the temporal needs of individuals.

The convention brings together five auxiliaries: music and youth, missions and evangelism and Sunday School. Sessions will be held at 9 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Delegates include people of all ages representing more than 100 churches.

Pine Bluff District No.1 is the official host for the convention and is led by Joe L. Stocker, superintendent, and Wanda Jean Jones, supervisor of women.

Superintendent Linwood Dillard of Memphis is the national chairman of AIM. Bishop Charles E. Blake of Los Angeles is the presiding prelate of the Church of God in Christ. The convention is under the leadership of Bishop Jewel R. Withers Jr., jurisdictional prelate, and Elder Cedric Smith, jurisdictional chairman.
