Coalition invites Pine Bluff community to prayer luncheon

The Faith Community Coalition of Pine Bluff, formerly the Church Outreach Committee, working with the Mayor’s Office and generous support from Tyson’s Foods, invites residents to join them again, for the fourth annual Pastors and Community Prayer Luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 16, at the Pine Bluff Convention Center.

“Come fellowship with clergy and laypersons as we collectively pray for our city, state and nation,” the Rev. Edna Morgan, program chairwoman, said in a news release.

The cost for the luncheon is $5. All funds collected will be used to support the mission of FCC.

“We appreciate you for all you give and do as clergy and laypersons for the citizens of the great city of Pine Bluff and surrounding areas. May God continue to bless you with good health and spiritual strength for our journey together as the Body of Christ, chosen by God for such a time as our current millennium entails,” Morgan said.

A letter to clergy from the FCC Chairman Jesse Turner and Vice Chairman Stephen Harrison also encouraged participation:

“The FCC Mission Statement is, ‘Faith Community Coalition consists of the Christian Communities of Pine Bluff whose purpose is to improve the lives of its residents.’ Our goal for this event includes taking this time on Tuesday, May 16th, to collectively pray for our city, our souls and any unhealed wounds we may be carrying along our journey, and to pray for salvation for those who do not know our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

“The most important gifts we can give to God is our hearts, our cares, our concerns, our intentionality in ministry, and our release of all challenges of our time that do not speak life or help to sustain life in its abundance. In addition, our collective prayers provide a time to renew our commitment to assist God in the great work of healing and restoration for our citizens locally, state and nationwide, and even around the world.

“Therefore, with great expectations, we look forward to you joining us for prayer on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at 11:30 a.m.”

The Rev. Jesse C. Turner is FCC chairman and pastor of Elm Grove Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Stephen Harrison is FCC vice chairman and pastor of Family Church.
