City of Pine Bluff slates cleanup Oct. 28

The Quality of Life Division of the city of Pine Bluff will host another community cleanup Saturday, Oct. 28.

“Do you want to help clean up our city? Contact the Pine Bluff Quality of Life Division to sign up for a community cleanup in your neighborhood,” a spokesman said in a news release.

The city of Pine Bluff is promoting 4th Saturday Community Cleanups in an endeavor to clean up the city, according to the release.

Evelyn Horton, chief inspector with the city’s Quality of Life and Code Enforcement, recently announced the cleanups.

The effort urges neighborhoods and organizations to sponsor cleanups. It is an attempt to promote civic responsibility for keeping streets and neighborhoods free of litter.

On Sept. 23, the Pine Bluff Street Department and Waste Management participated in the campaign to clean some of the dumping sites throughout the city. Pine Bluff Mayor Shirley Washington, Street Department Director Rick Rhoden and Horton joined the team accompanied by volunteers from Covenant Recovery.

For three hours, participants picked up sites where mattresses, furniture, construction waste, vehicle parts, clothing, and yard waste had been discarded.
