The lay organization of St. John AME Church sponsored the second annual Black History Knowledge Bowl, held in partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of Jefferson County.

Awards were presented to Triniti Herbert, Yaa Moss, Dorna Rochell, Jace Moore and Kelton Moore.

Sharon Fletcher, the St. John lay president, and Angela Flowers made the presentations, according to a news release.

The event took place at the satellite club of the Boys and Girls Club at First Methodist Church.

The winners, who received medallions, certificates and cash awards, were recognized for their achievements. A pizza party was held afterward for all attendees.

The judges for the event were Betty Anthony, Pearl Matlock, Candace Flowers, Gloria Lusear and Juanita Currie.
