NEW COMMUNITY CHURCH, 321 N. Birch St., will host its annual Breast Cancer Awareness Luncheon at 2 p.m. Saturday in the church’s fellowship hall. The speaker will be Dr. Yara Robertson of CARTI Cancer Center. The theme is Faith over Fear (II Tim. 1:7.) Tickets are $25 and can be purchased from Barbara Rankins, coordinator, at (870) 329-3380, or Karen Walker, (870) 643-3937. Tickets are also available at the door. Cancer survivors who plan to attend should contact Rankins because they will be honored at the luncheon. Participants are encouraged to wear pink or fuschia along with facinators and pearls.

PRAIRIE LAKE MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH, 2611 Indiana St., will celebrate its 130th Anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Melvin Harrison, pastor of St. Ollie Missionary Baptist Church of Star City. The worship leader will be the Rev. Darrell Martin, pastor of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Altheimer. The Rev. Alvin C. Lowe is pastor of Prairie Lake.

FIRST MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH, 4500 Faucett Road, will observe its 159th anniversary at 11 a.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Marvel Williams of Little Rock.

BARRAQUE STREET MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH, 1800 W. Pullen St., will conduct its annual Women’s Day at 11 a.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Judge Latonya Austin Honorable, a member of St. Luke Baptist Church in North Little Rock. The guest choir director will be Kayla Knight. The theme is Christian Women Called to Live Faithfully in Peace (Esther 4:14.) The Rev. Sidney D. Milton Sr. is pastor of Barraque Street church.

ST. PETER’S ROCK MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH, 1201 S. Catalpa St., will host the Prayer and Pizza gathering for children from 2-3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Faydra Handie, a Heart Corps service member and assistant family life pastor at Full Counsel Church-Pine Bluff. NAACP President Ivan Whitfield will give an update on voter registration, according to a news release. The Prayer and Pizza service allows people to pray for and encourage children. The event is held at a different church once a month and sponsors provide refreshments. Dee Clay is the coordinator.

THE CITYWIDE MISSION MEETING will be held at at 1 p.m. Monday at Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 2101 Reeker St., where the Rev. Glenn Barnes Sr. is pastor. The guest speaker will be Carol Key of Mulberry Grove Missionary Baptist Church of Altheimer. The outreach project for the month will be collecting peanut butter and cake mixes for agencies to give to the needy, a spokesman said.

EIGHTH AVENUE MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH, 1200 W. Eighth Ave., will celebrate its 126th Anniversary and Cornerstone Laying at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 27. Members, former members, and friends are invited to attend. The theme is Building Upon a Legacy (Psalm 78:4-7.) The featured speaker will be the Rev. Edward E. Thomas of Victory Missionary Baptist Church of Milwaukee, Wis. The Rev. Kirby L. Gulley is the pastor at Eighth Avenue.

PRAYER GARDEN CHRISTIAN FAITH CENTER CHURCH OF GOD IN CHRIST, 800 S. Apple St., will host its Annual Men’s and Women’s Observance on Oct. 27. The 10 a.m. speaker will be Elder Joe Brown, an associate minister at Holy Temple Cathedral Church of God in Christ in Little Rock. The 3 p.m. speaker will be Kimberly Clay, first lady at Anointed Praise and Worship Ministries Inc. in Pine Bluff. The theme will be We’ve Got Work to Do (John 9:12 and Luke 10:1,2.) The public is invited to attend. Superintendent Jerry W. Williams Sr. is the pastor of Prayer Garden.

ESAU WATSON JR., BISHOP OF JUDAH RESTORATION WORSHIP CENTER, will celebrate 47 years in ministry beginning with the Bishop Celebration at 7 p.m. Nov. 1 at the Randle Family Venue, 5812 Ryburn Road. Tickets are $50. The guest speaker will be R.J. Burt, a bishop. The emcee will be Kenneth Robinson, a bishop. Details: (870) 209-7055. Judah Restoration Worship Center, 2410 S. Main St., will honor the bishop and wife, Esau Watson Jr. and Paula Watson, on the bishop’s 47 years in ministry at 3 p.m. Nov. 3. The guest speaker will be Eric Alexander, pastor of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church of Little Rock.
