mKINGS HIGHWAY MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH, 2312 Fluker St., will observe Women’s Day on Feb. 9 beginning at 9:30 a.m. with Sunday School highlights by Isabelle Hawkins of Barnett Chapel Baptist Church. Mia Meadows of New Hope Baptist Church in North Little Rock will be the featured speaker in the 10:45 a.m. worship. Donna Huskey of Old St. James Missionary Baptist Church will be the guest choir director. Choir rehearsal will be Feb. 3 and Feb. 6 at 6:30 p.m.
mPILGRIM MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH, 2507 Hill St., will open its Raven’s Nest Food Pantry Feb. 8 from 8-9:30 a.m. or until all the food has been given away. Food will be given away on a first come, first-served basis. Participants must bring a picture identification. The pantry is a U.S. Department of Agriculture distribution site and an equal opportunity provider, according to a news release.
mOPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD shoebox gifts were collected across the U.S., including southeast Arkansas as part of the Samaritan’s Purse project during the Christmas season. The project collected 10.5 million shoebox gifts in 2024. Combined with those collected from partnering countries in 2024, the ministry is now sending more than 11.9 million shoebox gifts to children worldwide. These gifts remind children around the world that they are loved and not forgotten, according to a news release. Although local drop‑off locations for shoebox gifts are closed until Nov. 17-24, 2025, anyone can still be a part of this project by packing a shoebox gift online at samaritanspurse.org/buildonline.
