She retired from Jefferson Regional Medical Center after 34 years in the Cytology Department. She graduated from Saint Mary’s School of Medical Science in Cytotechnology in 1978 at Grand Junction, Colo. She graduated from Southeast High School in 1969, the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff in 1973, and had graduate studies in cell biology from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, in 1976. She’s a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.
mBARRAQUE STREET MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH, 1800 W. Pullen St., will host its Prayer Breakfast on Saturday. Breakfast will be served from 8 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. with the program starting at 9 a.m. The guest speaker will be Angie Gatlin, an evangelist and member of Calvary Baptist Church in North Little Rock. mAMOS CHAPEL MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH, 1307 W. 16th Ave., will host the kick off of the BKLR Quartet Music Convention 2025 at 6 p.m. Sunday. Musical artists will include Bishop Kenneth Robinson and Chosen, Golatt Links of Harmony, Ruby Evans and Faith of Harmony, Spiritual Wings of Joy, Shaw Boyz, Devin Pruitt, Spiritually Driven, and Racy Brothers. mST. JOHN AME CHURCH, 1117 W. Pullen St., will conduct a ground-breaking ceremony at 2 p.m. Jan. 28 for its new food ministry distribution center. “This state-of-the-art facility, generously gifted to the church by St. John Alexander Tower Inc., an Arkansas nonprofit corporation, represents a significant milestone in our decade-long commitment to combating food insecurity in our community,” according to a news release. The effort was initiated by the church’s Lay Organization.
mBARRAQUE STREET MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH, 1800 W. Pullen St., will celebrate the fifth pastoral appreciation for the Rev. Sidney Milton Sr. on Feb. 2. At 11 a.m. the guest speaker will be the pastor Clarence Holman of Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church, accompanied by his members. At 3 p.m. the featured speaker will be the pastor Dwight D. Townsend Sr. of Longley Baptist Church of Little Rock, accompanied by his congregation.
