Anniversaries

Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church, 3201 W. Second Ave., will celebrate the 35th pastoral anniversary of the Rev. Larry C. Battles, 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7. The guest speaker will be the Rev. T.R. Ramey, pastor of St. John Baptist Church at Mitchellville.

Tabernacle of Faith Church of God in Christ, 2121 W. Havis St., will celebrate the second anniversary of the pastor and wife, Elder Aaron and Alesha Withers, Sunday, Aug. 7. At 11 a.m., the speaker will be Elder Brandon Clay. At 3 p.m., the guest speaker will be Joe L. Stocker, pastor of Main Street Church of God in Christ and superintendent of Pine Bluff District #1 Churches of God in Christ.

Hosanna Christian Church and Ministries, 1500 N. Bryant St., will celebrate its 13th anniversary at 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7. The guest speaker will be Shirley Sanders, the apostle and pastor of Greater Deliverance Global Ministry of Pine Bluff.

Grace & Mercy Missionary Baptist Church, 817 W. Sixth Ave., will observe its seventh anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7. The guest preacher will be the Rev. Isaac Barnes Sr., pastor of First Baptist Church at Gould.

New Hope Missionary Baptist Church at Moscow will hold its 129th anniversary at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Aaron Barnes, pastor of New Home Baptist Church, accompanied by his congregation.

Pleasant View Ministries, 1117 N. Palm St., will commemorate its 91st anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Timothy Pratt Sr., pastor of Wheeler Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.

Bright Star Missionary Baptist Church will observe its 116th anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Lee Whitiker, pastor of Sold Rock Missionary Baptist Church.

Sardis Landmark Missionary Baptist Church will host its 152nd anniversary at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, featuring Old Time Gospel Singing and speaker Jerry Lawrence.

Concerts

Family Time Baptist Church & Ministries, 501 Ohio St., will host the Ole’ Timers Renewal Fellowship of quartet singers at 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, during the Pine Bluff Quartet Local Monthly Union. Participants will include the Rice Spirituals, Mighty True Lights, Union Choir, Men In Christ and Spiritualettes.

Greater Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 3700 W. 13th Ave., will hold an appreciation celebration for the church musicians at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7. The guest minister will be the Rev. Aaron Johnson, pastor of Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Guests will include the Webb Sisters, Pure Purpose and Spiritual Wings of Joy.

Traveler’s Rest Baptist Church at Grady will commemorate its annual choir day at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7. The guest speaker will be the Rev. James Spinks, pastor of Brooks Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at Monticello.

Revivals

Sardis Landmark Missionary Baptist Church will hold revival during its 152nd anniversary celebration at 7 p.m. on these dates with the following speakers: Monday, Aug. 8, Roger Taylor; Tuesday, Aug. 9, Danny Hill; Wednesday, Aug. 10, Ronald Young; Thursday, Aug. 11, Calvin Holmes; and Friday, Aug. 12, John Cox.

Smith Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 3006 Kentucky St., will sponsor revival at 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, Aug. 8-12, featuring the Rev. Willie Laws, pastor of New Morning Star Baptist Church at Cornerstone, as the guest evangelist.

Main Street Church of God in Christ, 2901 S. Main St., will host revival of the Pine Bluff District #1 Churches of God in Christ at 7 p.m. on these dates with the following speakers: Tuesday, Aug. 9, Barbara Deloney, an evangelist; Wednesday, Aug. 10, Gail Stith, an evangelist; and Thursday, Aug. 11, district pastors and elders.

Greater Battle Chapel Baptist Church at Altheimer will sponsor a back-to-school revival at 7 p.m. on these dates with the following speakers: Wednesday, Aug. 10, Christopher Savage, a minister at Family Time Baptist Church & Ministries; Thursday, Aug. 11, the Rev. Kortney Smith of Destiny Worship Center; and Friday, Aug. 12, the Rev. Michael Jenkins of First Baptist Church at Sweet Home.

Special events

Trinity Lutheran Church, 4200 Old Warren Road, recently welcomed the Rev. Stewart and Donna Marshall and their son, John, to Pine Bluff. The community is invited to join worship services at 10:45 a.m. Sundays.

Mulberry Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 719 S. Ohio St., will hold a mission program at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7. The guest pastor will be the Rev. Robert Anderson of Mulberry Grove Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer.

New St. Hurricane Baptist Church, 3319 S. Ohio St., will invites the community to its New Christian Life School Study starting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9. The topic of the free classes is “Live like you are leaving: The Book of Revelation.” There are also classes for children and youth.

College Heights Church of Christ, 1313 N. Magnolia St., will kick off its annual gospel meeting at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, with a gospel concert featuring renowned acapella singer, Curtis Williamson of Jacksonville, Florida, Purpose, the N. Mississippi Acapella Chorus, Gospel Four, and the Spiritual Voices. At 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, services will feature Terry Wallace, an evangelist from Hernando, Mississippi. Services will continue at 7 nightly through Wednesday, Aug. 10.

Old St. James Baptist Church, 1307 W. 16th Ave., will host a Colorama at 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, at the fellowship hall. The event will include Biblical/inspirational teaching, food and fellowship.

Church Without Walls Kingdom Center at Watson will celebrate its Kingdom Connection. At 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, the service will include the ordination of Rose Jenkins, as an evangelist. At 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, teaching sessions on Kingdom Men will be led by Willie Smith, an apostle, and Kingdom Women by Teresa Smith, a pastor, of Gadsden, Alabama.

Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, 900 Grant St., will host its ushers’ day at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Kirby Gulley, pastor of Eighth Avenue Missionary Baptist Church.

Jerusalem No. 1 Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer will sponsor its annual calendar drive program at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7. The guest speaker will be the Rev. James Rice Jr., pastor of Greater Battle Chapel Church of Altheimer.

Vacation Bible School

Timothy Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 1304 S. Apple St., will host its Vacation Bible School from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, Aug. 10-12, for all ages. The back-to-school program will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 13.

Youth

Traveler’s Rest Baptist Church at Grady will sponsor a gospel fun fest from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, on the church grounds.

St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church at Sherrill will host its annual youth program at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Accie Reynolds Jr., pastor of First Baptist Church of Ladd.
