The church will honor Henri Linton Sr. and Virginia Hymes, retired educators, for their contributions to African American art.

Catalpa St., will celebrate its 55th Homecoming starting at 7 p.m. today with the “Back Home Service” featuring the Dewitt Hill Singers, the former Voices of Praise, and Homecoming 2024 Choir. At noon Saturday, a brunch will honor the former pastor, Dewitt Hill. On Sunday, the 9:15 a.m. worship will feature Superintendent J.J. Watson of Northside Church of God in Christ of Ft. Smith. FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH of Pine Bluff, 717 W. 32nd Ave., invites the community to a free concert at 3 p.m. Sunday featuring Christopher Titko in an organ recital. The performance is dedicated to Pat Brown and her family, who funded the building of the French organ built by Petty-Madden in 1991 for the sanctuary of First Presbyterian, according to a news release.
A BLACK HISTORY KNOWLEDGE BOWL will be held at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the Pine Bluff Boys and Girls Club’s satellite site, First United Methodist Church, 200 W. Sixth Ave., according to a news release. The event is sponsored by St. John AME Church’s Lay Organization. Sharon Fletcher is the lay president and the Rev. Chestine Sims Jr. is St. John’s pastor.
