MT. NEBO MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH, 3201 W. Second Ave., will hold the annual Mt. Nebo Mass Choir Concert at 3 p.m. Sunday. Clancy White is the minister of music and director. Dee Clay is the mistress of ceremony. The Rev. Larry Battles is the pastor. “Please come out and hear great traditional and contemporary Gospel singing. Hope to see you there,” a spokesman said.

FULL FAITH CHRISTIAN CENTER, 1320 E. 17th Ave., will host its Men’s Day Program at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Robert Key, pastor of Mulberry Grove Baptist Church in Altheimer. Isaac and JoAnn Barron are the pastors of Full Faith. The theme is from Eph. 5:2: “Walk in love as Christ also hath loved us and hath given himself for us as an offering and a sacrifice to God.”

ELM GROVE BAPTIST CHURCH, 3114 S. Mississippi St., will observe its 182nd Anniversary and Homecoming Celebration at 10 a.m. Sunday. Elm Grove Baptist Church holds the distinction of being the first organized Black Baptist Church in Arkansas and west of the Mississippi River for enslaved Africans in Arkansas, according to a news release.

NEW COMMUNITY CHURCH, 321 N. Birch St., will present the New Community Annual Choir Day at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The guest preacher will be the Rev. Accie Reynolds, pastor of First Baptist Church of Ladd, accompanied by his congregation. Guests also include the Union Hopewell Baptist Church Choir. The theme is “Give unto the Lord glory due to His name; Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness,” (Psalm 29:2). The apostle/pastor of New Community is Patrick Lockett. The community is invited to attend. New Community also is hosting fundraisers until September. On Sundays, breakfast will be available for $5 (or $6.50 with coffee or juice,) served before and after the church’s 8 a.m. service. Also, Sundays after the 11 a.m. service, dinners will be available for $10.

BARRAQUE STREET MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH, 1800 W. Pullen St., will celebrate its 140th anniversary at 11 a.m. Sunday. The celebration will feature a BSMBC reunion choir and guest minister Dewayne Lindsey, pastor of the Faith Temple Full Gospel Deliverance Center of Little Rock. FIRST TRINITY CHURCH OF GOD IN CHRIST, 800 S. Catalpa St., will celebrate its annual Men’s Day at 9:15 a.m. Aug. 17. The guest speaker will be Victor Johnson, the apostle of Victor’s Empowerment Center in Stuttgart. Elder Aaron Withers is pastor of First Trinity. The community is invited to attend. Also, First Trinity will conduct its first Men’s Health Fair in partnership with Jefferson Regional Medical Center on Aug. 16 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the fellowship hall of the church. All men ages 18 and older are welcome to this free event, which will provide health screenings and information. Jefferson Regional urologist, Dr. Nick Scherzer, will be available to answer questions. CITY WIDE MISSION will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church, 3201 W. Second Ave. The guest speaker will be Donna Laws, first lady of Union Missionary Baptist Church in Altheimer, according to a news release. The pastor of Mt. Nebo is the Rev. Larry Battles.

MT. HARMONY MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH, 812 E. Harding Ave., will host the Consolidated St. Marion Baptist District Association’s 157th Annual Congress of Christian Education. Events include Saturday: 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Young People’s Auxiliary Classes and Activities; Sunday: 6 p.m. Official Opening/Women’s Auxiliary President’s Address; Monday – Wednesday Classes 5:30-7:15 p.m.; Monday: 7:15 p.m. Minister Missionary Team Reports/Laymen’s Auxiliary President’s Address; Tuesday: 7:15 p.m. District Dean Report/President of Congress Christian Education Address; Wednesday: 7: 15 p.m. Parent Body: Moderator’s Address. KINGS HIGHWAY MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH, 2312 Fluker Ave., will celebrate its 104th Anniversary at 10:45 a.m. Aug. 24. The Rev. Donnell McTyer of Kings Highway will deliver the message. The theme will be “104 years of being faithful to the mission and committed to the call.” (Matt. 28:19-20.) Everyone is invited to attend.

ST. JOHN AME CHURCH, 1117 W. Pullen St., will present its annual Men’s Day Worship and Praise Services weekend. On Aug. 23, from 8-10 a.m. the men of St. John will host their annual prayer breakfast. On Aug. 24, Men’s Day will begin at 9:45 a.m. with regular service featuring Xavier Wynn as the speaker followed by Church School at noon. On Aug. 24 at 3 p.m. the annual Men’s Day Worship and Praise Celebration will feature the Rev. Roderick Dwayne Belin, president and publisher of the AME Sunday School Union, as its guest speaker, according to a news release.

KINGS HIGHWAY MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH, 2312 Fluker St., will hold its pastoral installation for the Rev. Donnell McTyer at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 31. The Rev. Phillip L. Pointer, pastor of St. Mark Baptist Church in Little Rock, will be the featured speaker. The Rev. Orienthal J. Newburn Sr., pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Beloit, Wis., will be the guest speaker at the 10:45 a.m. worship service.

MT. MORIAH MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH in Gould will celebrate its 109th Anniversary along with Friends and Family Day at 2:30 p.m. Sept. 7. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Donald Manning, pastor of Thomas Chapel Missionary Baptist Burch in Gould, along with his congregation. Everyone is welcome to attend this celebration. The Rev. Phillip Puckett is the pastor of Mt. Moriah.
