ELM GROVE BAPTIST CHURCH, 3114 S. Mississippi St., will observe its 182nd Anniversary and Homecoming Celebration at 10 a.m. Sunday. Elm Grove Baptist Church holds the distinction of being the first organized Black Baptist Church in Arkansas and west of the Mississippi River for enslaved Africans in Arkansas, according to a news release.
NEW COMMUNITY CHURCH, 321 N. Birch St., will present the New Community Annual Choir Day at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The guest preacher will be the Rev. Accie Reynolds, pastor of First Baptist Church of Ladd, accompanied by his congregation. Guests also include the Union Hopewell Baptist Church Choir. The theme is “Give unto the Lord glory due to His name; Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness,” (Psalm 29:2). The apostle/pastor of New Community is Patrick Lockett.
