Chapel’s reign ends

PARAGOULD — Watson Chapel’s bid for a third straight state championship title and fourth in five years came to an end Wednesday with a 56-53 loss to host Greene County Tech in the opening round of the 5A state tournament.

The Lady Wildcats overcame a 17-point halftime deficit to tie the affair in the second half, but could not take a lead. GCT led by 19 entering the fourth period.

Watson Chapel’s Kamera Bozeman led all scorers with 24 points and completed a double-double with 10 rebounds. Chelsea Payne added 10 points and eight boards.

Three players scored in double figures for the Lady Eagles as they connected on 10 of 21 attempts from three-point range. The Lady Wildcats failed to score from beyond the arc and was 19 of 48 from the floor.
