Kenneth Theis (center) celebrated his 101st birthday Friday at Trinity Village Assisted Living. Theis was born Feb. 16, 1923. He moved to Pine Bluff when he was 12 years old and graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 1939. He also graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1943. The veteran served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946. He and his wife, Carolyn Theis, were married April 27, 1957. Born to that union was their daughter, Ellen Nelson. He also has a granddaughter, Katherine Nelson. Theis returned to Pine Bluff where he worked as a certified public accountant until his retirement in 1986, according to a news release.
