Carnell Russ Branch NAACP recently honored community leaders in a Spotlight Recognition Banquet.
The event honored people who made contributions and accomplishment in Lincoln County and beyond, according to a news release.
The honorees were:
Julia Rogers — Rogers was instrumental in various community organization and a Pioneer in founding the Carnell Russ Branch NAACP, Tea Program, Eastern Star and served in various roles and capacities.
Lawrence Conyers — Conyers, a Lincoln County farmer, was named “National Farmer of the Year” and also his family was named “Farm Family of the Year.”
Gene Yarborough — Yarborough was recognized for his efforts and support of the Carnell Russ Branch in recognizing and signing a proclamation setting a aside the “Carnell Russ Day” in Star City in 2011 in his memory.
“The banquet brought people from as far as Shreveport, Louisiana, Little Rock, Pine Bluff and Memphis to support and recognize the monumental contribution of these individuals,” according to the release.
