Jefferson County candidates file for ballot spots

Several candidates have filed petitions with sufficient signatures to appear on the Nov. 5 general election ballot.

The filing period began at noon July 31 for independent municipal candidates and school board candidates. Filing will end at noon Aug. 7, according to a news release from the Jefferson County clerk’s office.

So far, the following candidates have filed petitions to seek the following political offices:

PINE BLUFF

Colton Edwards — Council Member Ward 3 Position 1;

Patrick Lockett — Pine Bluff School Board Zone 7;

Goldie Whitaker — Watson Chapel School Board Zone 5;

Bonita Corbin — Pine Bluff School Board Zone 6;

Mack Milner — Watson Chapel School Board Zone 2;

Charline Wright — Pine Bluff School Board Zone 7;

Willie “Anne” Anderson-Gragg — Pine Bluff School Board Zone 5;

Donnie Hartsfield — Watson Chapel School Board Zone 4;

John Fenley — Mayor.

WHITE HALL

Gregory Scott Ray — Council Member Ward 2 Position 1;

Ken Smith — Council Member Ward 1 Position 2;

David Beck — Council Member Ward 3 Position 1;

ELECTION-RELATED DATES

Early voting will be held at the county courthouse Oct. 21 through Nov. 4. Voting occurs Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Oct. 29 is the deadline to receive absentee ballot applications by mail, fax or email. On Nov. 5, election day, polls will be open 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
