Camden Road homemakers club meets

Dorothy Green and Betty Johnson were hostesses for the Feb. 20 meeting of Camden Road Extension Homemakers Club.

President Jo Segars welcomed all members. The Thought for the day was given by Nancy Sumner “The biggest failure you can have in life is making the mistake of never trying at all.”

Sumner also led members in the reading of the Homemakers Creed and the Handy Hint: “When pruning, know your flowering shrubs need pruning, and time it on when they bloom.”

The inspiration was given by Wanda Felts from Leviticus 25:3. Roll call was answered with “Do you prune your own trees?”

Secretary Vicky Inich read the minutes of the January meeting and Karen Gray gave the treasurer’s report.

Betty Johnson gave the program about pruning trees. The information included when to prune, thinning branches, new growth and suckers.

Old business included the cookie exchange on Feb. 6 with Johnson and Segars delivering the cookies to first responders. On Feb. 9, at the Home and Garden Show, Segars set the booth up and plenty of cookies were offered to those who visited the Extension booth. On Feb. 22, an Easter workshop was held at the Extension office.

Future events include March 10, a fellowship tour was planned at the Camden Daffodil Festival. April 13, a tour will be at Graceland. April 28 will be Kids Fest at White Hall Park. Achievement Party will be held on April 18. Spring Council will be May 1 and Camden Road will be in charge of registration.

After a potluck lunch, the members worked on dolls and loop caps for Arkansas Children’s hospital.
