Camden Road Extension Homemakers Club meets

The Camden Road Extension Homemakers Club held its March meeting. President Jo Segars opened the session by welcoming all the members and greeting a visitor, Sue Maxie.

Hostesses were Dorothy Green and Mary Smith. Segars read the thought for the day, The Ruby-Throated Humming Bird is the most common Humming Bird Arkansas Humming Bird.

Nancy Sumner read the Homemakers creed and the Handy Hint: in addition to food sources for Humming Birds, convenient perching opportunities will make the yard more desirable.

Wanda Felts read the Inspiration: Matthew 13:32. Roll call was answered with how many Humming Bird feeders do you have in your yard?

Vicky Inich read the minutes from the last meeting. Karen Gray gave the treasure’s report. Segars read a thank you card from Andrea Hartley for the memorial given in memory of her son, Jonathan Hartley. A very good program on Humming Birds was given by Betty Johnson, according to a spokesman.

In old business, Segars’ picture was in the paper showing her giving cookies to a member of the Pine Bluff Fire and Emergency Services Department. The cookie gift to first responders was a success and those left were shared at the Home and Garden show.

A workshop was held at the Extension office with Segars attending “how to make a washcloth bunny and a card.” Betty Johnson attended a meeting at Ferndale with about 200 women on Feb 7. A scholarship was set up in the name of Betty Oliver.

In new business, May 19, a Humming Bird fellowship will be held at the Potlatch Conservation Center at Cooks Lake. Kids Fest will be April 28. Hostesses were selected for next three months. Service pins were mentioned for Dorothy Green, 5 years; Wanda Strickland, 10 years; Wanda Felts, 10 years. May 8 will be the next birthday celebration lunch at the Wood Shed.
