Delta Rivers Nature Center sets Saturday event

The Delta Rivers Nature Center in Regional Park will host the Wetlands and Wildlife Festival and celebrate the center’s 20th anniversary from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. The community is invited to attend. There will be plenty to see and do, according to the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. The event will include food trucks, face painting, BB guns, archery, sling shots, casting games, baggo, bounce houses, live demonstrations with AGFC K9 officer, falconry, wild game cooking, booths and crafts, conservation booths, and live animal exhibits. People may also walk along the nature trails and visit the gift shop.
Community yard sale set
Saracen Landing will host a community wide yard sale from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 30. Participants can hold their own pop-up shop at the event, according to a news release. People will be selling antiques, paintings, office furniture, housewares, clothes and other items. Library to host festival
The Jefferson County/Pine Bluff Library will hold its first fall festival from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The festival will have several booths for candy, pumpkin painting, photos, crafting as well as food trucks, popcorn, and cotton candy. “Costumes are welcomed and hopefully the adults will come dressed up, too,” a spokesman said.
New St. Hurricane plans trunk or treat
New St. Hurricane Baptist Church, 3319 S. Ohio St., will host a drive-through trunk or treat from 5-7 p.m. Saturday. The family-oriented event is open to the general public, according to a news release.
New Jerusalem sets trunk or treat
New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, 1317 S. Texas St., will host a trunk or treat drive through event from 4-6 p.m. Saturday. “All you have to do is pull up, pop your trunk and then drive off with your treats,” a spokesman said. The youth department is sponsoring the event.
Kingdom Fall Fest set at Boys & Girls Club
The community is invited to Kingdom Fall Fest from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Boys & Girls Club of Jefferson County, 2701 W. Short Reeker St. Admission is free. The family event will include games and prizes and refreshments including snow cones, hot dogs and hamburgers. Covid-19 protocols will be enforced, according to a news release. Altheimer hosts trunk or treat
Trunk or treat event will be held from 5-7 p.m. Saturday in front of Altheimer City Hall. The event will include DJ Ice Man Lamar Dendy and various vendors, according to a news release. Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church will host the seventh annual Breast Cancer Event Oct. 30. Southeast Arkansas College and the Pine Bluff Police Department have partnered for SEARK’s annual fall festival from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the college’s Seabrook Recreation Center, 6808 Hazel St. Activities will include a live DJ, vendors, games, costume contest and free treats. The police department will have a section that will be free for the community, a spokesman said. Their section will have a spooky trailer, photo booth, candy stations, game booths, and free hot dogs. There will be a host of food truck vendors as proceeds from the event will fund SEARK’s scholarship program.
New Watson District site to hold walk-thru
A walk thru and open house will be held at the newly constructed Watson District Baptist Association Building at Mitchellville from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 31, according to a news release. The Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas will present “You Have the Right to Remain Dead,” an audience participation murder mystery comedy. Neighbor to Neighbor is having its second annual Fall Fried Pie Fundraiser on Thursday, Nov. 18, 2021. Pies may be purchased either frozen or fried. Homemade pies are made by Flywheel Pies at Prescott, a nonprofit organization that provides jobs for people with disabilities. Pies must be ordered two weeks in advance. CASA holds October auction
CASA Women’s Shelter at Pine Bluff continues its monthly Great Escape Auction. The Pine Bluff Regional Chamber of Commerce is accepting applications for the 2022 Leadership Pine Bluff class, according to the Chamber newsletter. Election panel to hold 2 meetings
Michael Adam, Chairman, Jefferson County Board of Election Commissioners, has called two board meetings. Tuesday, beginning at 7 a.m., the commissioners will hold an election day meeting until unofficial election results are announced at approximately 9 p.m. at the election center, 123 Main St. If commissioners are required to make a decision requiring a vote while the polls are open, it will be at the election center, according to the news release. Wednesday at 6 p.m., the commissioners will hold a regular meeting at the election center. The agenda includes public comments on new business (two minutes per speaker). New business includes adjudicating any provisional and absentee ballots and approving the manual audit of unofficial election results. Attendance at both meetings will require face masks, observing social distancing and using best practices for everyone’s safety, according to the release.
Locals among Small Works display at HSU
The 2021 Small Works on Paper, an annual touring visual arts exhibition, will open at 9 a.m. Tuesday in the Russell Fine Arts Gallery at Henderson State University at Arkadelphia. The show will feature 26 artists from across Arkansas, including two from Southeast Arkansas: Crystal Jennings of Rison and Kimiara L. Johnson of Pine Bluff. The exhibition is free for public viewing and most works will be available for sale, according to a news release. The exhibition will tour to up to 10 venues statewide. The city of Banks will host the 35th annual Buck Fever Festival Friday and Saturday, Nov. 12-13, according to a news release. Ministry group seeks applicants for free home repairs
Ozark Mission Project (OMP), a non-profit ministry of the United Methodist Church (UMC,) will conduct free minor home repairs for people in need in the summer of 2022.
