CADC offers help for utilities

The Central Arkansas Development Council at Fordyce is offering crisis intervention assistance to families in Dallas County with a utility bill shut-off notice.

The Crisis Low-Income Home Energy Assistance (LIHEAP) program is accepting applications at the CADC Fordyce Office, 410 E. 4th St., at Fordyce, Monday through Wednesday, 8 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.

To qualify for Crisis LIHEAP, people must have a disconnect or shut-off notice with a disconnect date within 7 days of the application. Applicants for LIHEAP assistance must meet income guidelines. For a household of 1, monthly countable income is $1,482. Countable income includes check stubs, child support, unemployment, housing utility assistance, SSI, SSA, TEA, VAS and retirement benefits.

To apply for assistance, the household should bring proof of income for all household members 18 years or older for the previous month. Social security numbers and birthdates for all household members are required. Allow the agency 35 days to make payment. Details: Call 870-352-8894.
