Kenneth Ray Burton III, 19, has been sentenced to six months in county jail and $2,000 in fines for his role in the shooting death of Kadedra Washington, 16.
A jury found Burton not guilty of manslaughter, but found him guilty of two misdemeanor charges: negligent homicide and carrying a weapon into a publicly owned building or facility.
The jury sentenced him to six months on each charge — with the sentences to run concurrently with each other — and $1,000 fine for each charge.
The trial began Thursday in a Jefferson County Circuit Court. Burton faced manslaughter charges in the death of Washington, who was shot April 19, 2011, in Townsend Park and died early April 20 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.
