Bulldogs clinch 5A-SE soccer title

LITTLE ROCK — Jordan Lawson scored two goals and Ruben Zamora and Ben Malone added a goal each as White Hall clinched the 5A-Southeast Conference boys soccer title with a 4-2 win over Little Rock Mills on Tuesday.

White Hall (13-3, 6-1 in 5A-Southeast) led 3-0 after the first half and 4-0 midway through the second before Mills could answer with a pair of late goals after the game was already well in hand for the Bulldogs.

Lawson’s goal came in the 14th minute of the first half on a deflection when a Mills player attempted to clear the ball out of the box. Zamora netted the second goal on an assist by Tyler Maynard and Lawson capped the first-half scoring with a shot from 15 yards out.

Malone added a goal 7 minutes into the second half from the top of the box off a rebound from a shot by Kinsey Kight.

Cody Jones had a shutout in goal when he was lifted in the second half prior to Mills’ two goals.

White Hall will host North Pulaski on Friday for senior night.

GIRLS SOCCER

White Hall 3,

Little Rock Mills 1

LITTLE ROCK — White Hall claimed the No. 2 seed in 5A-Southeast Conference with a win over Little Rock Mills.

Marleigh Pearce netted a pair of goals and Corea Lowery added a goal for the Lady Bulldogs (7-5-1, 3-2 in 5A-Southeast).

SOFTBALL

Sylvan Hills 4-7,

White Hall 1-2

SHERWOOD — White Hall’s two losses at Sylvan Hills reduced the Lady Bulldogs (20-6, 11-3 in 5A-Southeast) to second place in the conference behind the Lady Bears.

Sydnee Clark took the loss in the opener while Abby Weaver absorbed the loss in the nightcap.

White Hall will host Texarkana on Thursday.

BASEBALL

Rison 14, Fordyce 9

RISON — Tyler Parker, Jackson Lowery and Josh Cook each had two hits for the Wildcats in a five-run 8-3A Conference victory over the Redbugs.

Will Jacobs struck out seven Fordyce batters in three innings for Rison, which will go into the 3A Region 4 tournament in Genoa as the fourth seed from the conference. Rison will play at Genoa Central at noon Friday.

For Fordyce, Austin Hollis, Daniel Harris, Dane Kemp, Jordan Manes, Seth Freer and Braden Chambers each had one hit. Fordyce finished third in the 8-3A and will play Prescott at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Star City 10,

Camden Harmony Grove 6

STAR CITY — Star City ended its 8-4A Conference season with a 10-0 win over Camden Harmony Grove in six innings on Tuesday.

Three Star City (16-8, 9-5) pitchers combined for the two-hit shutout. Hunter Johnson started the game and worked 1 2/3 innings, striking out three batters. Jake Carr pitched the next two innings and struck out two, and Austin White finished the game and struck out two batters.

Offensively for Star City, Johnson was 2 for 3 with a run and three RBIs, White was 2 for 3 with a run and two RBIs, Slade Hawkins was 2 for 3 with two runs and an RBI and Eric Tucker was 2 for 3 with an RBI.
