Breakfast held in observance of National Day of Prayer

A prayer breakfast was recently held at First Presbyterian Church in observance of the 61st annual National Day of Prayer.

Rev. Lance Clemmons, pastor of First Presbyterian, shared words of encouragement lifting up the national theme, “One Nation Under God.” The scriptural text was Psalm 33:12, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.”

Clemmons encouraged the faith community to work together ecumenically to address the challenges that we face in our community, because we are the “body of Christ.” Extemporaneous prayers were lifted simultaneously at each table during the breakfast. The group met around the flagpole at the Pine Bluff Civic Center, as well, to pray for the city, county, state, and nation.

All are invited to join the Pine Bluff Prayer Community on the first Thursday of each month from noon until 1 p.m. for prayer.
