LITTLE ROCK — The Pine Bluff Braves won all three of their games in the Little Rock Rangers Memorial Weekend Tournament at J.A. Fair High School.
The Braves beat the Rangers 8-2 and 6-3 and beat Oasis of Nicaragua 25-2, handing that team its first loss in a year and a half.
Jeffery Works improved to 2-0 on the mound, pitching seven complete innings, striking out five and scattering four hits in the first victory. Corey McCoy led off the game with a solo home run, but John Brown settled down enough to allow only four hits in five innings for the Rangers.
Darrell Brodie reached on an error with two outs in the third, and that led to RBI hits by Chase Smith and Christian Kidd to make it 3-0. But the Rangers cut the lead in half that inning.
Pine Bluff closed the game with two runs each in the sixth and seventh innings.

The Braves jumped to a 4-2 lead after one inning in the second game. Reece Cross held Little Rock hitless for his last four innings after giving up three in the first. Cedric Lee worked the last two innings, holding Little Rock to two hits.
On Sunday, the Braves held a 7-2 lead over Oasis before going on an 18-run outburst in the fifth. Jeremy Bran threw a one-hit gem for Pine Bluff and struck out eight.
Lee hit an inside-the-park home run off the center-field wall. Jerome McCullum went 4 for 5, and Corey Briggs went 3 for 3 with five RBIs.
