Brakebill to coach Lady Jackets

The Sheridan School District announced Tuesday it is hiring Andy Brakebill as the next Lady Jackets basketball coach at Sheridan High School.

He replaces Jamison Ingram, who was named assistant principal at the school earlier this month.

Brakebill had been the boys coach at Benton Harmony Grove since 2020. The Cardinals went 28-5 last season with a 13-1 conference record, winning a conference championship and advancing to the state tournament.

Prior to Harmony Grove, Brakebill was the head boys coach at Poyen and Bauxite. He has also been an assistant girls coach at Rogers and a junior high coach at Bryant.

He led Bauxite to its first conference championship in school history and its first trip to the state tournament since 1963. He earned conference coach of the year honors in 2015 and 2024.

Sheridan athletic director Rick Treadway praised Brakebill in a press release.

“When you can get the combination of a very high character and very respected and experienced coach, you are blessed,” Treadway said. “Coach Andy Brakebill will bring both to our Lady Jacket basketball program.”

Brakebill graduated from Henderson State, where he was part of the Reddies’ 2003 Gulf South Conference championship team.

Sheridan is coming off a 21-9 season. The Lady Jackets finished fourth in the 5A-South Conference with a 10-4 conference record and reached the state tournament.
