A $15,000 bond was set Friday for a Pine Bluff man who allegedly was involved in the beating of his girlfriend.
Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Ray Cannady, 27, with second-degree battery.
According to a probable cause affidavit from Pine Bluff Police Department Detective Steven Rucker, the female victim was interviewed in the emergency room at Jefferson Regional Medical Center on Tuesday.
She told police that Cannady got mad at her and told his cousin Tim to “correct her.”
Rucker reported that the alleged victim said Tim Cannady got in a car with her and took her for a ride, and while riding, struck her several times in the face and head with his elbow. Afterward, Ray Cannady got back in the car and drove to a laundry-mat on Blake Street, where he dropped her off, and she walked to the hospital.

The affidavit said the woman received a broken nose and eye socket, and had bruises and swelling to her face and neck.
When Ray Cannady was interviewed, he allegedly said the woman had struck Tim Cannady and he retaliated.
When told that the woman had a broken nose and eye socket, Ray Cannady allegedly said was “just fortunate.”
In addition to setting the bond, Bridgforth ordered Cannady to have no contact with the woman until the case is settled.
He said he would hire his own attorney.
