A $10,000 bond was set Monday for a woman who allegedly smuggled drugs and tobacco into a prison at Pine Bluff.
Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgdforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors had probable cause to charge Johnita McCoy, 52, of Vilonia with furnishing prohibited articles.
State Police Special Agent Jerome Sanders said in a probable cause affidavit presented in court that prison officials at the Randall Williams Correctional Center stopped McCoy on Sunday after she allegedly gave a green plastic bag containing 19.3 grams of tobacco to an inmate.
Deputy Prosecutor Nicole Pugh said prison officials received information that McCoy had previously brought drugs into the facility and after watching surveillance video, questioned McCoy about the allegations.
McCoy allegedly said she had smuggled methamphetamine into the facility twice and had also brought prescription drugs in.
She said she would hire her own attorney.
