Two errors in the sixth inning allowed the University of Arkansas at Monticello to score the tying and go-ahead runs Saturday in a 6-5, 7-inning victory over Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Okla., to close a doubleheader. UAM won the first game 11-10.

The Boll Weevils (8-5, 6-0 Great American) swept the weekend series, beating the Savage Storm (6-8, 0-6) by 1 run in each game. The Weevils have won 7 in a row, 4 of them decided by a run each.

UAM tied the game at 5-5 when an error at third base allowed Parker Dorrance to reach first base and Kirk Woolf to score. Dorrance then came home on an error by the catcher.

The Weevils were off to a 4-0 lead after Woolf doubled in a pair of runs and Wes Owens belted a 2-run homer. The Savage Storm put up a 4-spot in the third thanks to two errors and a bases-loaded walk, then took a 5-4 lead in the fourth when Reid Rice doubled down the right field line to score a run.

James McCormick struck out 2 in 2 innings and picked up the win. Nelson Mercado struck out the side in the seventh for the save.

Brody Logsdon suffered the loss despite a hit and 2 strikeouts in 2 innings. Each team committed 3 errors and totaled 6 hits.

UAM’s home game against Henderson State University on Tuesday is canceled. The Weevils will return to action Friday at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia.
