Boll Weevils land nine transfers for 2015

With the 2014 season completed, the Arkansas-Monticello football team is looking to add some more depth to its roster.

The mid-year early signee period began on Dec. 17 and runs through Jan. 15. The Boll Weevils were fortunate enough to sign nine early enrollees. The players signing will have immediate eligibility.

The Weevils will try to bounce back in 2015 from a tough 2-8 finish last year. Fifth-year head coach Hud Jackson said he is “very excited” to receive the new early signees and believes each one will have a “positive impact on the program.”

The signees include:

Koy McFarland, a 5-foot-10, 175-pound wide receiver from Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Mississippi who grabbed 38 passes for 414 yards and a touchdown;

Quinterius Willis, a 6-3, 320-pound offensive lineman from Co-Lin who started every game at right tackle;

Stacy Warren, a 6-1, 205-pound linebacker from Pearl River Community College in Mississippi who totaled 21 tackles and had one interception;

Mike White, a 6-foot, 200-pound linebacker from Monroe College in the Bronx, New York, who registered 28 tackles and 2.5 tackles for loss in sophomore season;

Wesley Williams, a 5-11, 215-pound linebacker from Arkansas Baptist College who started every game;

Michael Jay Evans, a 6-4, 310-pound offensive lineman from Kilgore College who started every game;

Sam Koch, a 6-4, 220-pound defensive end from Hutchinson (Kansas) Community College who recorded 27 tackles last season;

Travis Turner, a 5-10, 185-pound defensive end from Cisco College in Texas who rushed for over 700 yards with an average of 4.7 yards a carry with nine touchdowns; and

Idong Okon, a 6-2, 290-pound offensive lineman from Tyler (Texas) Community College who helped his team to an 8-3 record and runner-up finish in the Southwestern Junior College Football Conference playoffs.
