Body found dead on South Oak Street

Pine Bluff police discovered a dead body at 2105 S. Oak St. just after 6:30 a.m. Thursday, according to a news release.

Officers found an unresponsive older male lying just off the roadway in front of the residence. The man, who has not been identified pending location and notification of family, was pronounced dead at the scene and died some time before he was discovered, police say. The man reportedly did not have any gunshot or stab wounds that could readily be identified.

Police do not believe the death is a homicide, but say it will be investigated as one until a cause and manner of death are determined by a medical examiner at the state Crime Laboratory. If ruled a homicide, it would be the fourth that has occurred in Pine Bluff this year and third this month, according to data by The Commercial.
