Skylar Padgett has been hired as assistant softball coach at the University of Arkansas at Monticello.

Padgett, of Grants Pass, Ore., recently appeared in 41 games as a graduate transfer at Abilene Christian University, according to a UAM news release. Prior to that, she played in more than 150 games at North Dakota State University, was listed on the Summit League Commissioner’s List of Academic Excellence and was selected for Summit League All-Tournament honors in 2022.

Padgett was head coach of the Bat City Batz of the Lone Star State Collegiate League.

“I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to start my coaching journey at UAM and to work alongside Coach Lem,” Padgett said. “I am filled with so much excitement and very eager to dive in and start working with the team. I look forward to meeting each of the players and building strong, supportive relationships as we strive for success together.”

Padgett received her bachelor’s in human development and family science from North Dakota State University and is working toward her master’s in conflict management and resolution.

“I am so excited to welcome Skylar to #BlossomsNation,” Lem said. “Her playing experience, along with her path to Monticello, is filled with things that I think will greatly impact our players. Her personality is infectious and her passion is beyond evident. I’m excited for our program.”
